To all concerned the effects of the cuts is castastophic to all with ill health, we have been thrown to the dogs without and concern or thought from the poeple in power who no doubt are very comfortable in their secure surroundings.
There is a campaign group called 38Degrees their web site is http:// www.38degrees.org.uk/spending-cuts.

They direct you to your MP have your say, we have to gain momentum together and fight back, I have emailed my MP twice and he has written direct to G.Osbourne and I await a response no doubt a negative one BUT the more that fight the better please support the campaign, I am in the process of losing my home after 26 years, can do nothing about it beacause I am ill and my wife a pensioner can you imagine the effect.

PLEASE FIGHT DONT LAY DOWN AND TAKE IT FROM THE NOBLES.

i think we should all remember that even labour were after our dla. after a long fight they decided to stop it at age 65 and give the money to social services - but not all would be eligable for care - can you imagine it. they would never manage. both parties are as bad as each other.

Bob, I hope you have forwarded a copy of this to your own MP and all those in the government's Work & Pensions Dept. who are involved in planning changes to the benefit system.
They also need to remember that we are all (at least potentially) voters and that we all pay taxes (is there anyone out there who doesn't pay VAT?) if we have any money at all.
I hope you get contact with someone who actually makes an effort to understand the difference between short-term "sickness" and long-term functional differences from the average - if enough people keep on at enough MPs, maybe some of them might eventually catch on (let's keep living in hope).

Bob, you explain the situation very well, especially the way losing a benefit like DLA can have a knock on effect, both to you and the British economy.

I would like to know how those at the top would cope being a carer and at the sharp end of the poverty line whilst prices go up, if you do not drive you receive no help towards public transport for someone who has had a stroke and is housebound and depends on you.

Due to circurcumstances I cannot work as I am a full-time carer and can only do 15 hours voluntary work. Yet the debts keep pilling up. Sometimes you dread getting up in the morning. Apart from a good GP, social services are rubbish, our carers centre has limited resources. I am sick of fighting bureaucracy. I could do a better job myself and for less money. When are we going to be paid the going rate for the job ie the minimum wage of £5.93. Make those who refuse to work, work for a short time in the carer profession that will soon change their tune. As for those at the top make them pay their whack and bankers to pay back all we have bailed them out and stop hastling those who cannot pay throug no fault of their own.

I can appreciate Diabnicks comment regarding Diabetes and complication. I have peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet, I am blind in right eye and very poor sight in other eye(currently being treated. I have chronic asthma, Endometriosis, Degenerative Disc Disease, Diabetes Mellitus 39 yrs and completely knackered ! I receive DLA and severe disability allowance and my Mortgage payments have been drastically cut. I am worried sick as I am not able to pay the extra for my mortgage as it is already restricted. I will end up Homeless if more cuts are to happen on 20 of October. Stress is a killer and esp. with a chronic illness never mind a few. Seems us disabled folks will have to beg for bread and water as we have No right being unfit to work. The sooner a group is set up to fight these cuts that are being made on the Countries most VULNERABLE the better I say.

Providing for the sick and disabled and their careers defines our society as civilized, a return to a world where those groups rely on charity or means tested benefits is a return to the values of Victorian Britain and the poor laws. Thanks to Nye Bevan and the Labour government of 1945 this attitude had been consigned to history and defined post 1945 Britain as a truly civilized society. Today we are being threatened with a return to a form of barbarism that only this Tory/Liberal government would contemplate and consider morally justifiable.
