I wish to draw attention to all the people who are not severely disabled but nevertheless do need help and support to find work. To obtain and hold down a job takes a level of intelligence that a great many do not have and yet they have no diagnosis and in many cases do not consider themselves to be disabled. This calls for a common sense approach on behalf of the Job Centre in advising them to transfer onto ESA. The medical assessors also should be recognizing those in need of support and only rejecting the obvious fraudsters. ESA is just what the less able need and yet they are the ones being rejected after the WCA. It doesn’t make any sense to only help the more severely disabled many of whom may not ever be able to work.
They should also scrap the use of the word disabled which would help everyone but especially this particular group of people.
Hi there Pat.
I was very interested in your comments. You are putting a different perspective. We haven’t really addressed the sort of problems that your son faces. Why don’t you come to the CW discussion group and explain more about his situation.
